Last year, Climate Reality’s network in Europe saw incredible growth, with the Rome Training bringing nearly 1,000 new Climate Reality Leaders into the movement. This year, the momentum continues with the Paris Training, further expanding our reach and strengthening local climate leadership. As we work toward our goal of reaching 100,000 Climate Reality Leaders by 2030, we need a structure that allows more Leaders to engage, take ownership, and drive impact in their communities. That’s why we’re introducing Climate Reality Hubs.
This shift moves us away from a single national coordination point and toward a city-based model, where local Leaders can take the lead on climate action, advocacy, and community engagement. While Hubs will be based in cities, they will be open to Leaders from surrounding areas and can collaborate across regions and even nationally. Each Hub will focus on locally relevant ways to contribute to Climate Reality’s key global campaigns - Emissions Reduction, Financing a Just Transition, and International Climate Cooperation - ensuring that local efforts connect to the broader movement for systemic change.

What are Climate Hubs?
Hubs are volunteer-led local groups of Climate Reality Leaders and community members working together to drive climate action in their cities. They are designed to be flexible, autonomous, and locally driven, allowing members to focus on the most relevant climate issues in their area, region or country.
Each Hub will have a Hub Leader and Co-Leader, both of whom must be trained Climate Reality Leaders. They will guide the group’s activities, facilitate collaboration, and connect with other Hubs across Europe. Hubs will also welcome other members, volunteers and activists, who share their commitment to tackling the climate crisis. Each Hub will be supported by its respective European Regional Organizer. Based on the size and concentration of our network in Europe, there will be 4 Regional Organizers for the following regions: Northern Europe, Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe and Southern Europe.

Why is this change happening?
The decision to transition to Hubs comes after years of growth and reflection on how to best support local climate action. While the National Volunteer Coordinator model played an essential role in organizing efforts, it became clear that a more decentralized approach would allow for greater impact, more leadership opportunities, and stronger local engagement.
This model gives Climate Reality Leaders and community members more ownership over their climate work, making it easier to organize impactful initiatives tailored to their city or region. Instead of a single person acting as a national point of contact, leadership is shared among multiple individuals, ensuring sustainability and continuity within the movement.
Gratitude to our National Volunteer Coordinators
As we transition to this new model, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our National Volunteer Coordinators - Alvaro (Spain), Christina (Nordics), Enno (Germany), John (Turkey), Khulan (Switzerland), Marion (France), Paola (Italy), Patryk (Poland) and Versha (UK) - who have dedicated their time, energy, and leadership to this movement. Some of them have been shaping the network for many years, playing a key role in supporting Climate Reality Leaders and fostering community engagement.
While the National Volunteer Coordinator role is concluding, all of them remain part of our network and will have opportunities to continue engaging in different ways, including as Hub Leaders, Advisory Group members, or Regional Organizers. We appreciate their contributions and look forward to seeing the many ways they will continue to drive climate action in their communities.
What’s next?
The transition to Climate Reality Hubs is an exciting opportunity to strengthen local climate action. If there’s a Hub in your city, join and get involved - or if there isn’t one yet, start one with fellow Leaders. Hubs are volunteer-led and flexible, so you can contribute in a way that fits your time and skills.
