Yes, climate change is a big challenge. The good news?
You don’t have to take it on alone.

Climate Reality Hubs are local groups of passionate Climate Reality Leaders and activists, working together to drive climate action where it matters most—in their own communities.

Whether it’s advocating for clean energy, pushing for stronger climate policies, or organizing educational events, Hubs provide a space for action, collaboration, and impact.

Check the FAQ section at the bottom of the page to learn more about the details!

Change starts close to home.
Local action connects people, builds momentum, and turns shared ambition into lasting impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Climate Reality network transitioning to the Hubs model?

The Climate Reality network in Europe has grown significantly, and the Hubs model is designed to decentralize leadership, empower local action, and ensure long-term sustainability. Instead of a single national point of contact (Volunteer Coordinators), leadership will be spread across multiple city-based Hubs, allowing for stronger local engagement and more flexible ways to contribute.

Will Climate Reality Leaders still be connected at the national level?

Yes! While leadership is shifting to local Hubs, collaboration between Hubs within a country is encouraged. Hubs can work together on nationally relevant campaigns, joint events, and translations. Existing national communication spaces (WhatsApp, Telegram, Reality Hub groups, etc.) can still be used, with one or multiple Hubs maintaining them.

Can I join a Hub even if I haven’t completed Climate Reality training?

Yes! Hubs are open to both trained Climate Reality Leaders and new individuals who want to get involved in climate action. This allows Hubs to grow their impact, strengthen connections with local organizations, and engage new activists in the movement. However, the roles of Hub Leader and Hub Co-Lead are reserved for trained Climate Reality Leaders.

What happens to National Volunteer Coordinators? Will they still be involved?

Although the Volunteer Coordinator role will formally conclude at the end of March 2025, many former VCs will continue to play an active role in the Climate Reality network. Those who choose to stay engaged can take on leadership in their respective Hubs or contribute in other meaningful ways. This transition is about expanding opportunities for involvement while ensuring stronger, more localized leadership across the network.

How will national communication and coordination work if there are multiple Hubs in one country?

Hubs in the same country can coordinate on shared priorities, translations, and advocacy efforts. Some Hubs may choose to maintain national communication channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Reality Hub), while the Regional Organizer can provide support where needed. Hubs will remain connected while keeping their focus local.

What kind of support will Hubs receive?

Hubs will have access to:

  • A Climate Hub Starter Pack Folder with guidance on organizing, campaigns, engagement strategies, toolkits, and FAQs.

  • Regular leadership calls and training opportunities for Hub Leads (depending on Branch capacity).

  • Regional Organizers (ROs) to support multiple Hubs across countries, helping with collaboration and best practices (ROs will start joining in April).

  • Connections with other Hubs across Europe for shared learning and joint initiatives.

How much time does being part of a Hub require? What kind of activities do Hubs work on?

Time commitment varies based on how involved you want to be! Some Hub members join occasional meetings and support events, while others take on leadership roles. Hub activities may include:

  • Organizing local climate campaigns and advocacy efforts.

  • Hosting educational events and community discussions.

  • Engaging with local governments and businesses to push for climate-friendly policies.

  • Connecting with other Hubs and activists to share best practices and resources.

If you’re considering starting a Hub, we recommend at least one co-lead and a small founding team to share responsibilities and ensure sustainable engagement.

Will the new model allow us to work on national-level campaigns?

Yes! While the focus is on local action, Hubs can coordinate nationally to push for stronger climate policies, develop joint initiatives, and share advocacy strategies. Climate Reality Leaders can decide how they want to collaborate across cities and regions.
