The Climate Reality Project, a prominent US-based climate non-profit organization, is thrilled to announce its strategic partnership with Urgewald, a veteran German non-profit with over 30 years of dedicated service in the climate action sector. This collaboration marks a significant step in continuing the programs of The Climate Reality Project in Europe, leveraging Urgewald's deep expertise in climate finance and policy campaigns.
As a newly appointed European Branch Host, Urgewald will facilitate The Climate Reality Project’s programs on the continent. This expansion is not only geographical. It also includes implementing The Climate Reality Project’s profound commitment to global climate solutions. Urgewald’s role is pivotal, particularly in moving financial institutions to end financing of fossil fuels, where its three-decades-long research and campaign experience and its extensive network of international partners offer invaluable insights and strategies.
"This alliance empowers us to confront the climate crisis with an unprecedented level of expertise and commitment. We're excited to join forces with Urgewald, harnessing our collective knowledge and resources to ignite significant emissions reductions and foster sustainable financial strategies. The urgency of our mission has never been greater, and together, we're poised to make tangible, lasting changes in the fight against climate change." Phyllis Cuttino, CEO of The Climate Reality Project
The collaboration with Urgewald also includes launching and promoting The Climate Reality Project’s four global campaigns. These initiatives will address emissions reduction, climate finance, international cooperation on climate, and anti-greenwashing. In tackling emissions, the partnership aims to leverage collective resources and knowledge to significantly reduce greenhouse gases. Urgewald's expertise is particularly relevant in the focus on climate finance and international cooperation, providing the necessary acumen to build and drive financial strategies for sustainable practices and policies.
“Our partnership with the Climate Reality Project is a powerful basis for stepping up civil society pressure on European companies, banks, insurers and governments. The time for effective climate action is now and together, we aim to bring this message into the boardrooms and ministries,” says Heffa Schücking, director of Urgewald.
